Lautoka Weekend from the girls perspective.

Trying on a Kamezze. (sp?)

Well this past weekend has been very interesting! On Saturday morning we jumped into the car, heading towards Lautoka. Mom was really pushing for us to be early because we wanted to go the UGG factory. We did get there before it closed, after a little bit of driving around. The Fijian communication was not all that clear.

It was super cool to go there though and see how real UGG’s are made. The people where really friendly though and the owners of the factory even gave us a personal tour. All the UGG’s are made from Moreno wool. They cut the shape out of them with a stencil. After that they are hand sown by the workers at the factory. They can custom make them for you. A regular pair of boots can be made in 45 minutes! Crazy! We all ordered some. I got the aqua pair!

Making a pair of UGG boots.

That night we went out for dinner with one of the associate pastors, Jainesh. The restustrants name was Chili bites. It was a little bit of a hole in the wall place that no tourist would go to. It had really good food though! We started out with some samosas, we don’t often have Indian food because it burns.  This food did the same so I ate it quickly so I could not really feel it.  My butter chicken then came and by then I had already drained all of my Coke so I had to drink more water and eat even quicker. My lips where tingling for awhile after.

Well I had a very good time, and enjoyed getting to enjoy some of the Indian culture as well.  Alexandra

Alaina trying on the Kamezze.

So this weekend we were in Lautoka. which is on the west coast of Viti Levu. We stayed in an awesome hotel which had a really cool pool! Anika and I  went swimming even when it was raining.  It was so much fun!

While we were in Lautoka we went to Pastor John Dinesh’s church. Pastor John is the pastor of the foursquare church in Lautoka, anyways it was very cool. After a couple of hours we went to a cell group or a house church meeting. There were a LOT of flies in the house but it was nice.  One guy brought a sort of music box with a a small keyboard about half a meter long, it is called a Harmonia. To make it work you had to pump the back like an accordion. it was very cool!

Playing around at the UGG factory.

When we were in Nadi on our way to Lautoka we went to the UGG FACTORY!!! I got some dark teal/gray ones with a cool pattern. Well i g2g, love Alaina.

Nasty Cockroach!

Ok so this weekend we went to Lautoka. We went to lunch at this place that was very good. Hahahha Alaina was talking to Nana on the cell phone and she was talking about how the waiter came and killed the cockroach that was on the floor by our table.  She was like “the waitress man came and killed the cockroach” we laughed soo hard, that would be a “waiter” Alaina! Oh, the cockroach scared us so bad, the waitresses were just walking then they were like making faces and walking the other way, and we looked down and there is this nasty, disgusting, humungi, big cockroach! We were like eeew I don’t think we want to eat here!! Dad said “ good thing everything is cooked!”

Also, something that is different here is that when you want to see the days special menu they will bring you the whole white board! It was weird when we were asking about something on it and she was like “would you like to see the menu?” Then she just like wheeles it over. I had bacon that day too! I have been totally craving bacon but it was really weird tasting.

Some pool time!

Alaina and I went swimming that day as well, ahhh it was so nice to swim in non-salty water. Oh, and the hotel we were staying at had tv but it wasn’t the best and it only had 5 channels and two of them were in Hindi.. It was nice to watch tv though, first time in over 2 weeks. A hah. Oh and that day we went shopping for an Indian outfit for mom, and it was so cool to see all the different styles, and colours.  The outfit is called a Kamezze.  Ahaha the pants are so funny, they were sooo big  at the top that you could almost fit 5 people in it and then it was very small at the bottom. I think we are going to get one made for us girls this weekend. I found some very pretty material this weekend. They are so pretty! I love and miss you all! “good day” hahaha, moce (mothe). Anika
